Christmas Crackers

What's It Wednesday #195

This has been a rough week. A friend fell suddenly gravely ill and is really struggling right now. So this post is a break from the worrying and praying.

My cousin was recently visiting us from the UK and promised to bring Christmas Crackers. I was so excited to get them. I know my family and friends will be so excited to receive them at the dinner table. I mean who doesn't like a nice surprise?

There will be different Christmas Crackers at each Sunday meal between now and Christmas and the Christmas dinner.

It's a decorative and colorful tube that you pull at both ends. When the cracker breaks you hear a "pop". The kids love it.

After the cracker pops a little gift falls out. It may be a small trinket, toy, joke, or riddle.

Christmas crackers can also be made at home. I saw some super cute ones on Pinterest. But for now I will keep asking family members to bring them across the pond.

I hope your friend is healing and I like your reminder about the Christmas crackers or poppers, that you pull and a tiny gift comes out. I think I will buy some, I saw some at a store in town.

Thanks for hosting in spite of your heavy heart. Hope your friend is on the mend soon. It is difficult to be ill at any time but it is especially devastating at Christmas.

We love Christmas crackers at our house, too. I have some on my tablescape right now in the dining room. :) Your cousin is lucky; I'd love to see England at Christmas! Thank you for hosting and have a good week.

Years ago I read an article in Scientific American magazine that people who are prayed for (even when they don't know they are being prayed for) recover 25% faster and more completely than people who aren't the subject of prayers. So, with all the prayers and good wishes you have elicited for your friend (allow me to add mine), he or she is certain to be much better soon. You are a good friend and a great link party hostess. Thank you for making time for us show-offs when you have so much else occupying your attention.

Do you not generally have Christmas crackers in America? Our ones in Australia have silly paper hats which I hate but have to wear....hmmm.....
I love those plates with the bird on them. Have a lovely weekend ahead. take care.

It's tuff when you have a dear friend or family member sick this time of year when we should all be celebrating Christ's Birth and enjoying good food and company.
I feel your pain.

Those crackers were never on my list till now. It will be real fun to put a match box car in them for my little Grandsons

Keep your chin up and prayers up also, miracles happens
