What's
It Wednesday #69
I
don't know if you're a fan of Charles Faudree but I think he's
amazing. His newest design book (Charles Faudree Home) has his
beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Nicholas, on the cover. He has
an extensive collection of dogs in paintings, statues and figures.
Now I'm nowhere near his level but i'm sharing my pups too. This is
my favorite pair of Staffordshire dogs made popular by Queen Victoria
and her love for spaniels.
I
think the white ones are just as lovely...
especially
in pairs! See the book in the background?
Who's
this guy checking himself out?
He's
a cute little Royal Dux gloss finish terrier made in England.
This
old cast iron bulldog is given a wide berth by my cat. Peeka hasn't
decided how she feels about him (lol).
Isn't
he the sweetest? I picked up little Jacque because I just love his
playful face. He's a German piece by Rosenthal.
These
teeny weeny guys are my pound puppies. Have you seen them, little
noses pressed against the glass, whispering “take me home”? I
can't resist those faces!
My
last pup is this old chalkware piece from the fifties. I love his red
scarf around his head bandaging his toothache, poor guy. As you can
see I've gone to the dogs, I hope you do too!
Hugs,
Patti

ReplyDeleteHi Patti. Thanks for hosting and love all the dogs. Especially the chalk one with the toothache. I see you had a visitor in the form of anonymous. I had a few of those so took that option off..Happy Tuesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Patti, What a lovely collection of dogs. I had a pair of Staffordshire dogs just like yours, which I gave to an American friend for her 50th birthday. She was over the moon with them and they now sit proudly on her mantlepiece.
ReplyDeleteI love King Charles Spaniels and we had Chloe who was part of our lives for 14 years....they are an adorable breed of dog.
I have nothing appropriate to share today, but I thought I would pop by and say hello.
Best Wishes
Daphne

Oh, Puppy Love! (pun intended, ahahaha)
ReplyDeleteI love it. In fact we all at home have one or two pieces, all different and from different sources. Funnily enough each piece describes the owner: dear daughter for example and her eternal puppies (do you know how I got three dogs? Of the moving and messing kind? Right. Puppies grow ahahah).
My biggest dream is to have a pair of Staffordshire dogs. I like the blue and while ones or just white like yours :heaven:... one day!!!
Going to mingle and enjoy the party,
Teresa
These are darling!! I do love Charles Faudree...so gorgeous...
ReplyDeleteThank you, dear Patti, for always leaving such kind and heartfelt messages for me...your kids at school a VERY lucky to have you! :)

Hugs and blessings to you, sweet friend...

Would you believe I have a life size dog sitting in my family room? He was once a department store prop. My real dog has never paid him any mind. LOL....love all your sweet doggies. I have an affinity for old chalkware pieces....the shabbier the better. :)
ReplyDeleteIs Staffordshire a style or a brand? Also, were other animals in addition to dogs done in Staffordshire? Love yours! Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice dog collection...♥♥♥ the Boston terriers!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend...
Patti, you have a great collection of dogs as for the spaniels they are a favorite of mine. Growing up we had a springer spaniel, black and white, then moved on to the cocker spaniels buff in color, they are a true happy dog and your white ones are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my shakers, it's just so comforting to know my bloggy friends out there see the same beauty as I do in weedy cuttings and the beauty they hold.
You are a collectors dream, why do you not write a book, I know you can, and it would be filled with what is it, why it was used and how, and I use to have that.....it would be amazing, something for you ladies to think about.
See you soon, I promise.
Xoxo
A graceful weekend that inspires all that it offers you.
