What's It Wednesday #102
I've
always loved silhouettes. I've made them of the kids when I taught
kindergarten using an overhead projector. I wanted to make one of the
grand baby, but as you know they're only still when sleeping (light
bulb!).
I
poured over photographs searching for profile shots. When I found
some I felt confident I could work with, I made photocopies. Then
with the tiniest scissors I could find, I folded the paper in half
and began to snip. This gives you a mirror image of the photo
(without the overhead, or the sitting still!)
Thrilled
with my little creations I wanted a unique way to display them. Each
one represents a milestone so (ding!) a growth chart.
I remember the
door jam of our family home with growth marks for all us kids at
various stages. Moving away (or painting) destroys those memories. I
wanted his to be permanent Sooo...
I
bought a behind the door mirror, and spray painted it with chalkboard
paint. Then I super glued this expandable hat rack to it. I used an
empty picture frame and some wooden letters to spell the young
master's name. Of course the appropriate gold to top it off, this
architectural piece. A classic growth chart that can grow and go with
him!
The
knobs allow you to hang on as many silhouettes as you like. I record
his height and weight on the image to mark each year. I'm so happy
with it. Hope you and your little shadows have a blessed
Thanksgiving!
Hugs,
Patti
