What's It Wednesday #135
Every once in a while, blog life requires a repost. In this case a partial repost from one of my favorite fall posts.
SURGEON GENERAL'S WARNING: Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and may complicate pregnancy. Ok now that that is out of the way, let's look at some amazing collectables that came out of the culture of smoking.
Part of this smoking culture from around the world was the creation of fashionable accessories which are now highly sought after.
After Patti introduced me to the blog world, I was a blog voyeur for quite awhile. I ran across a blog where gorgeous cigarette cases were highlighted. Falling in love with silver cigarette cases was a natural attraction for me. The author of the post said that photographs would look great in these cases. That was my OMG moment. I would give my eye teeth, as they say, to find that blog again and thank that person for introducing me to cigarette cases. So let me introduce you to a few of mine. Let's see what they look like individually.
I collect silver cigarette cases from all over the world. I think they are fascinating. Oh and don't they make awesome picture frames? That blogger was absolutely right. By the way, meet my little prince.
I love the corners on this German silver cigarette case.
Using silver cigarette cases as picture frames is ideal because they are quite versatile. As you can see, you can use them portrait or landscape. These Halloween photos are perfect in this vintage English cigarette case.
I fell in love with this enameled cigarette case by the Saart Brothers because it perfectly compliments my mother's jewelry box. She received this beautiful jewelry box from Asia when she was in junior high school.
So I keep one of my favorite photos of my mom inside this beautiful cigarette case.
This cigarette case has an amazing scene of a beautiful temple on the cover which is the perfect accent to the photo of my little prince and me.
This very small cigarette case hails from England and is the perfect size for this small picture of my mother as a little girl. It compliments the platinum embossed vintage plate that I picked up from a wonderful gal named Linda, on my way to the Florida Keys.
Do you have a favorite item you have repurposed?
xoxoxo

HI Patti,
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea for the cigarette cases. They look so pretty as frames. Thanks so much for sharing at Adorned From Above's Link Party.

Really very attractive and creative as well. Favors and decorations arranged by my neighbor for her daughter's birthday were pretty pleasing. Best party venue was selected and I think online payment was done. Catering part was good. Drinks were soft and serves were according to the needs of all guests.
