What's
It Wednesday #129
Recently,
while rummaging through some junk
treasured
keepsakes I ran across this cup and saucer. It is the “Rosalynda”
pattern by James Kent of England. I remember buying it many years ago
because it reminded me of a full set that my grandma owned.
I
happily smiled and enjoyed many cups of tea and warm memories for
years.
But
much everyday use caused it to craze and crack and it sadly got
relegated to a cabinet of seldom used dishes and knickknacks.
Well
today I decided to give my dear set the status it deserves. While out
junking I ran across this cup and saucer holder. It too is old, but
very unique.
I'd
never seen this type. Have you?
The
older I get, the more I appreciate a few imperfections and signs of
age. I think my old cup has a few more good years yet. It's still
just my cup of tea!
Hugs,
Patti

Come
show off your whatchamacallits, what is its, what it once was, and
"hey, look what I just did" posts. In other words, what you
created, organized, designed or re-designed, found, purchased,
transformed, inherited, re-purposed, renovated, are selling, or
giving-away.
Some of my favourite cups have imperfections: it's often a sign of how much they are loved!
ReplyDeleteI have one similar style of vintage teacup stand. Nice to see yours today. Thank you for Whats It Wednesday no. 129, love joining in. Your displays are always such a visual treat.
ReplyDeleteJoy
Hi Patti. That is such a pretty little cup that you should display it. I have never seen a holder like that. It is so pretty..Thank you for hosting and Happy Tuesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteHi Patti, thank you for hosting another party. Love the tea cups and the features.
ReplyDeleteBlessing,
Marlene
Your tea cup and saucer are very nice. I love the flowers on them. This week features are amazing and the party faboulous. Thank you. Have a nice week. Tina
ReplyDeleteI run from mismatched things as... well, as you run towards them ahahah
ReplyDeleteI don't really know why I'm like this but I believe to have a moment like this it has to be THAT SINGLE piece. And the moment created by you for this post is too sweet for words. Bringing an old lady for tea always is.
Bless your generous heart and amazing taste for cookies and cake.
Here's to a sweet life,
Teresa
I have a salt and pepper set packed away somewhere in the same pattern as your pretty teacup. I've never seen a holder like the one you've found! Thanks so much for featuring my stash of quilts among the other great features, Patti! I hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteVickie
I like the calico cup and the crazing never bothered me when enjoying my old vintage dishes.
ReplyDeleteJust proves how much they are loved.
Also I like the cup holder I haven't seen one similar to yours I just have the newer ones
I like your attitude about liking a few imperfections. You raised a good thought about aging with grace and valuing each phase of our life. The world pulls us too much toward perfection and there is only one person who had that.
ReplyDeleteImperfections show character. Beautiful find!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty teacup, even with all the imperfections. Thanks for the party.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I seem to be having trouble with Linky Tools v. 2.0. My images don't seem to show up.
Lovely find! Thanks for hosting! Happy Week to You! Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
ReplyDeleteBeautiful teacup and I love the sweet holder from the past. It's the little imperfections that carry all the charm.

ReplyDeleteHi Patti...I love teacups and saucers and yours are just lovely. A few years back I was at a bridal shower and one of the gifts were 6 teacups and saucers which were part of a much treasured collection. As the bride-to-be unwrapped each set everyone oooooohed and aaaaahed and applauded. How special those cups and saucers were. Thank you for sharing yours. Have a great week and thanks too for the party!

What a great post! I love old teacups that have been used and loved. My mom had a very large cup & saucer collection and I have kept my favs from her many treasures. She had a couple holders similar to yours, very different. I still have them packed away but hope to have them out soon since an antique desk with side glass cabinet is coming to roost at my place. When I find them I will be sure to let you see them!!
