What's It Wednesday #80
Have you ever wanted something for so long? Well for years I have wanted a silver tilting water pitcher but could never get my hands on the right one...until recently. I have always been fascinated by these tilting beauties.
This Victorian Wilcox S.P. Company water pitcher is from 1878. The Wilcox S.P. Company dates back to 1865 and was based in Meriden, Connecticut. The company later helped to form the International Silver Company in 1898.
In the late 1800s "all things Asian" were all the rage, which started in England in the 1860s and spread quickly across the United States over the next two decades.
This beauty was found at an estate sale in remarkable condition for her age and boasts a Japanese motif with a mythological character etched on her side.
This girl is a very heavy vessel with a porcelain enamel liner. Thank goodness for the mounted stand! This makes it easy to pour our favorite drink as well as makes it easy to move her around from place to place.
She is "Pitcher Perfect" for Iced Tea or cold infused fruit water on hot summer's day.
What is your favorite summer drink?

Those Victorians really knew how to create and live in full mode, uh? So glad you could have the wish of your heart... at last.
ReplyDeleteQueen Victoria is doing somersaults, ranting on Heaven (some might say that's not where she went but let's not trash the dead ;) ahahahah) that you should be her Heir.
But then we wouldn't have so much fun with your findings which you generously share with us. (I bet Prince Charles doesn't even know where's one of those in BP ;)).
Need to join the party; you always throw the best. See you ;)
Teresa
