What's
It Wednesday #85
I'm
thrilled to present to you my exciting new find, Hannah! I've sighed
and whined over all the gorgeous dress forms I've seen on your blogs.
Oh, the parties I couldn't attend, and the fun dress up challenges
I've longed to participate in, too.
Now
that's all in the past, since Hannah waltzed through the front door.
I'd begged my friend Shelagh, who runs a thrift store, to sell me
this dress form for over a year ago. She refused EVERY TIME I asked,
and I asked a LOT!
But
fortune was on my side last Saturday when I asked one last time, as
sadly the store is closing. Not only did she say, “yes” (wait for
it) she sold it to me for $25.00!!! I was over the moon.
The
heavy iron base, all the stenciling and original sticker had me doing
the happy dance! I couldn't wait to get her home.
I've
had so much fun dressing her up with these old lace collars, pearls
and some sparkly bling. I just love her!
Bring
on the parties, this Cinderella's ready for the ball! Welcome home,
Hannah!
Hugs,
Patti

ReplyDeleteDear, dear Patti! HELLO!
ReplyDeleteYou are SO fortunate to have found a mannequin of this quality for $25.00! I paid $15.00 for one of much lesser quality, that I ended up paper-mĆ¢chĆ©ing over to make it look vintage. But mine does not even have the sturdy base as yours. YOU SCORED!
Thank you my dear for coming by to visit. It is such a pleasure, after five years of blogging, to write, share, compose and connect with people all over the world.
Be well! Anita
She's gorgeous and you got her for an amazing price. Congratulations on your new family member!

ReplyDeletePatti,
ReplyDeleteThe dress form is wonderful, but I think you made it even more special by dressing it up in the lace and jewelry and giving it your own personal touch. I really like these dress forms, and I keep telling myself I want to buy one soon. I will let you know when I do, as you have inspired me so.
Love,
~Sheri

ReplyDeleteThank you SO MUCH for the feature! So glad you liked my fish tale tag. I LOVE your Hannah!!! (And I must say that I'm a little bit envious.) My poor Cosette doesn't have near the aged grace of your Hannah, but hopefully her clothes and jewelry are just as fine. :-) We MUST have a party one of these days dedicated to all these wonderful "vintage" dress form girls. Think I'll do that this weekend Sunday! Would love for you to join.
ReplyDeleteThanks again.
Laura from Sunday View

ReplyDeleteO! M! G! What a FANTASTIC find!! And yes - it pays to be persistent... although sad to hear of a shop closing. Enjoy dressing Hannah for the holidays or season ~ or whatever your reason!

Oh, Hannah is fantastic. Love how you dressed her up. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteHugs
Your dress form is gorgeous with or without her pretties all adorned/ It's a vintage one for sure and you did so well giving her a fancy design. I like it very much. I'm having a giveaway if you would like to join in. Hugs. Tammy
ReplyDeletePatti, I love your Hannah! She looks totally happy in her new home, too, all decked out in her finery. Your heart probably sang all the way home from the store. My dress form is a more modern, adjustable Dritz. I have used her a lot, what with constructing prom dresses and wedding gowns for my two girls, over the years. Since she is not used much any more, I have been thinking about making some sort of form-fitting cover for her, so she will look more like an antique. I have these thoughts when I see those that are so pretty, such as on your blog post. I might just have to do that! Thanks for hosting the great party. I don't participate in the parties much yet, mainly for lack of time, but I do try to visit many of the blogs and gain inspiration from them. I enjoyed meeting Hannah! God bless you!

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - Hannah is exquisite! I'm a bit envious, I must say. I'm sorry to hear that the store was closing {that always makes me sad}, but your persistence paid off! And that price is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI am following you back, and will be sure to link up to your parties when I showcase something on my blog.
