What's It Wednesday
#112
Welcome to another
What's It Wednesday! This week I'm sharing some of my brooch
collection. Do you love them like me?
I know that they
aren't worn much anymore, but I love the delicate and intricate
designs.
This is my favorite.
Hand-painted on mirror surrounded by pearls. Yum!
The blue ones are
nice old pieces. The filigree is amazing. Can you believe the
craftsmanship?
From time to time I am
daring and wear them on a scarf or hat.
These coral pieces are
so neat. I love the way they feel when they become old and worn.
I have way too many
collections, but this one isn't going anywhere soon. I have drawers
full. Some to wear, some to cherish, and some for crafting like my
bottle projects,
A message holder

Patti,
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your brooch collection is amazing! I love brooches and collect them too, but I don't have half as many as you. Some of mine include a pretty red, pink, and lilac. I really like the diamond heart one, and the blue one is absolutely gorgeous. But I think my favorite is the hand painted one with the roses and pearls, it's so pretty. I wanted to tell you that I love the softness on your pictures when you show some of your collections, and the rose on here adds a special touch. You did a great job on these photos, and I have to say that this is my favorite post yet.
Have a blessed week ahead.
Love,
~Sheri
Wow! Patti, These are all gorgeous, and so is your photography. Since the sapphire is my birthstone, I was really taken with the broaches with blue stones. I love the ways you've repurposed some of them. laurie

ReplyDeleteYou can't ever have TOO MUCH of a good thing - that's My Mantra!
ReplyDeleteDo you know I must have had my first brooch a couple of years ago? I don't know why...
Well, I have some that were a traditional offer when a child was born in my country that you'd love and if I had, I'd share a pic with you, so sure I am you'd swoon over it ahahah - but then I don't know who's close to you and don't want you swooning on Brad Pitt's arms - and they are too cute: usually in gold, with birds and a pearl or some precious stone - and you would love them. I am so sure of it that I might arrive home tonight and take a picture to send you...
But where was I before the Brad Pitt remark? - oh. yes. Somehow after that baby brooches phase it seems the piece was no longer an item until a few Christmas ago when one of my best friends sent me a delicious musical note brooch in silver and with some (discreet) bling... she couldn't believe, when I told her it was my first grown-up brooch ever.
Since then I've had another from a good friend and sometimes I dream of buying one as an indulgence. I like those with Victorian Roses like on your first pic... oh and pearls but then I don't see how pratical they would do be with my fashion sense.
I need to take more inspiration from you! To have because you love and then The Lord Will Provide.
Love,
Teresa
What a great collection! I love brooches. In fact, I wanted to do an all-brooch bridal bouquet, but it was unfortunately cost-prohibitive. For now, I'll just live vicariously! :)

These are real beauties, Patti, and your displays and photos of them are gorgeous! A privilege to get to see them! Blessings, Bess
ReplyDeleteHi Patty, I love your brooches. I have a few of my Mothers and have started wearing them on scarves. I found I can make an infinity scarf out of any scarf by pinning it! Your favorite; the one on the mirror is gorgeous. I wish we still had this kind of talent around. XO
ReplyDeleteI'd like to feature this post at Revisionary Life Thrifty Life Thursday this week, ladies!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning collection of brooches!!!
ReplyDeletehow gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat's quite the collection! Thanks for linking up at last week's Weekend re-Treat Link Party!

It's funny, Patti, although my post that I'm linking up isn't really about brooches, I mention them because I'm making a brooch bouquet for my daughter and last weekend did my last 'brooch run'. I've been collecting for nearly a year and have about 90. I've turned into a brooch hoarder!
ReplyDeleteYou have such beautiful ones. The workmanship is stunning. The one that is shaped like a leaf reminds me of one that I acquired last summer and it's one of my favorites. Such fun!
Thank you for the party!
Patti, I love your brooches. They are gorgeous and thanks for the party also. Hope your week is just wonderful... Linda
ReplyDeleteAhhh, what a brooch collection! and you do make such beautiful pieces with them! SO lovely...you inspired me to make something beautiful with my mother's and Grandmother's brooches...I am usually afraid to wear them, I don't want to lose them!
ReplyDeletehugs,
betsy
Absolutely exquisite collection! I am delighted that you shared with Home and Garden Thursday,
ReplyDeleteKathy
What a beautiful collection Patti... I definitley have brooch envy!
ReplyDeleteHi Patti,
ReplyDeleteLové lové lové, your collection of brooches.
I too had some to wear and some to just look at. What I did to display them back in the 90's was to take a 6 inch wide and yard long ribbon sash hanging on a wall and then collage them all up and down pinning them to the ribbon sash so everyone including myself could admire them.
Patti do you remember the trend of pinning the brooches to the curtain tie backs as Drapery jewelry, I still love seeing unexpected things being blinged .
A most beautiful weekend full of inspiring brooch ideas.
Xoxo
Doré
Beautiful brooches! Thanks for sharing at Submarine Sunday!
ReplyDeleteYou have a great collection. I think I like the coral rose one the best. Thank you for sharing this at my History & Home link party, take care. Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com
ReplyDeletePatti, it is so good to be with you again! I have missed you! Your brooches are just my style of jewelry--love them all! I have looked high and low for similar jewelry, and it's very hard to find around here. I recently discovred Turkish jewelry in L.A. and just found it on Ebay. They seem to reproduce the Victorian patterns in brass and silver. Yurdan.com also has a lot. I will be linking up with you again soon.
ReplyDeletePatti, you all have the prettiest and most unique things and I love love love the tiny boxes.
ReplyDeleteHello, dear Patti!
ReplyDeleteI am catching up with blog friends, and this is such a delicious post...
Your collection is amazing...I love what you have created with some of the brooches.
I actually wear them quite a bit, because our climate allows for coats, jackets, sweaters, etc....so that's fun!
Wishing you a great week, dear friend!
xoxoxo,
- Irina
Beautiful! I always forget that I can use them with a scarf...I have several my grandmother left me! Thanks for joining us at LOBS!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI like to wear my old brooches on a denim jacket, just for the contrast.
