Don't Judge a Book

What's It Wednesday #162

I have this thing about boxes. It's one of my many obsessions. I especially love the boxes that look like books. When Michael's has a sale on boxes, my bestie and I are there. I keep a manicure set in one next to my bed, pens in one in my armoire, a ream of copy paper on my desk, you name it I have a book box for pretty much everything. I have been fascinated with boxes ever since I was a kid. It's the element of surprise of what may be inside that intrigues me the most.

One day, I was in the Antique Store picking up a pocket watch. On the shelf below the pocket watch is this vintage book box.

Not just any book box. A box that checks off so many of my own personal design boxes: It's silver, has elephants, from India, looks like a book, and most importantly...it's a box.

To top it off it has a latch on the side. Perfect for the element of mystery that I love.

I figured that I needed a place to display my new book box. It also just so happened that I needed a place to have towels handy in my bathroom. I made a beeline to Ikea and picked up this Hemnes Shelving Unit. It perfectly matches the color of my bathroom cabinets.

So what's inside you ask? My everyday, go to jewelry.

It turned out to be the perfect hiding place and very convenient for every day use.

Do you have a box obsession as well?

  1. I love the way you have styled your bathroom with this new shelving unit. And the silver book-box is devine. I don't think I have ever seen anything like it. How clever how it opens and a great place for your jewelry. Enjoy the rest of your week and thank you for hosting.
