What's It Wednesday #177
Hi everyone! So glad to be back and sharing two of my favorite farmhouse style goodies with you, ironstone and this old ladder.
I love the weathered look of old ladders and they are so useful for displays. I've seen them in just about every room of a house holding everything from linens to book and plants. I literally BEGGED my friend (Margaret) to sell it to me, soooo glad she finally did!!!
Hi everyone! So glad to be back and sharing two of my favorite farmhouse style goodies with you, ironstone and this old ladder.

The patina on this ladder and the smooth surface of the wood worn from use just makes my heart sing. The splotches of paint just add character. I'd never dream of painting it, but I needed a contrast for it so it stood out.
After trying many and varied items (you know I have lots of those! ha! ha!) I settled upon the creamy white of the ironstone and the vibrant green of the plants.
I chose pieces from my collection that had a variety of shapes and functions, just to mix things up.
I think it gives prominence to an empty corner and allows both the ironstone and the ladder to grab your eye. So, although I didn't get any new ironstone pieces, I sure think the ladder has "stepped up" my collection!
Hugs,

I just love your display! That ladder is fabulous and really does showcase your ironstone perfectly. I would love a ladder like that but could never display anything fragile while my grandchildren are small!
ReplyDeleteOh Patti, I really like that look! Form the chippy paint on the wood patina, to the ironstone and green plants - and perfect for that corner. Those steps look wider than normal, which is even better for the display. Thanks for having us all in again. My sisters and I have been shaking things up in our booth spaces again, trying to keep it fresh. :)
ReplyDeleteRita
