What's It Wednesday # 29
Now that it is officially summer, we can bring out those crisp and pristine summer whites. Summer is when I pull out the white linen clothing and white home accessories.
This double sided gravy boat is used for tasty summer salsas like mango, tomato or cucumber and light sauces for pastas. So nice and refreshing.
Some of my favorite operas and musicals seem to arrive just in time for summer. These antique mother-of-pearl Lemaire opera glasses from Paris are just the item needed when Les Miserable and Phantom of the Opera come to town.
Summer means bringing out all of the elements of a beautiful summer day. This includes summer dinner ware. My son gets to sport his Ralph Lauren earthenware as the perfect accent to a summer outdoor dinner party.
Flowers on porcelain seem to fair much better than the flowers in my garden. No watering, pruning, or fertilizing necessary.
For as long as I can remember I have always wanted a Secretary desk in the bedroom next to the bed in lieu of a nightstand. The base of the desk has four drawers that I use like a nightstand. My favorite part is the top part which is a book case with glass doors. Twice a year I switch it up a bit. For the summer I bring out the summer whites.
The seller of this wonderful shaving mug listed it as a tea strainer. So needless to say, I got it for a song...in fact I am still singing.
The rose vase, antique mustard pot and flowered pitcher are surrounded by some of my favorite silver pieces. There is something about silver and white that makes me think of clean, fresh, elegance.
This white porcelain pitcher and bowl with tropical flowers were the perfect addition to the slant top desk. Oh these flowers are inspiring me to be a better gardener. We shall see about that.
What are some of your favorite summer whites?
xoxoxo

I love the shaving mug! I grew up in the midwest, and my dad used a shaving mug until the late 50's or early 60's when he switched to aerosol shaving cream.
(My grandpa didn't switch because he went to town 3 times a week to see a barber who shaved him with a straight edge. When the last "shaving barber" retired sometime in the 60's, we bought him an electric shaver. What great memories you brought back!)
Just found your blog. I am fairly new to the blog-world. I am your newest follower! Thanks for hosting this party!
