Fabulous Finds

What's It Wednesday #33

Mondays are usually blah and uneventful, right? Not when I take a trip to my favorite antique store (that’s now open on Mondays!) I found this gorgeous vanity tray with an etched mirror! I’d not seen one like it before. I carried it around in my arms the whole time!

As I walked past the checkout counter, I spied with my little eye a pretty beveled glass box. “Is it sold?” I asked. Nope, they hadn’t gotten around to putting it out yet. Yea me! That star diamond cut glass top and those cute cherubs just had to come home with me!

Now I really just came to look for pillboxes, but this powder jar with hand painting and cameo lid wooed me away. That blue is irresistible!

I love all the religious artwork and statues I’ve been seeing lately, so I had to have this beautiful statue of our lady, (only four dollars)!

My eye always goes to things that are unique, and this umbrella shaped thermometer is perfect! Bone ivory carved handle of a dog (it even has a chain!) attached to a brass umbrella. It’s quite old and still has the mercury inside! This is getting pretty rare since mercury hasn’t been used in thermometers since 1974.

Okay, so I was almost done paying up, and was almost out the door… until suddenly my supersonic birdcage radar honed in on this beauty! I need it like another hole in my head, but here she is… home at last! Hope you have a great week and get some fabulous finds too!
Hugs,

Patti

Does this antique store know how they increased their bottom line by being open on Mondays for YOU? Haha-you really got some beautiful pieces -- my two favorites are definitely the etched mirror (never seen one etched like that either!) and the beveled glass box.
