What's It Wednesday #82
I come from a very long line of tea drinkers. With being a tea-aholic comes the teapot obsession. With family coming in town, it's the perfect time to serve tea from a cutie.
Many of us have joined the collectors and connoisseurs from around the world who have been collecting blue-and-white porcelain since the Ming Dynasty. So when I saw this little guy in a shop I of course could not leave him there.
Fast forward to the 20th century and you find this lovely whimsical teapot designed by the acclaimed Paul Cardew. Paul is known for his amazing Disney teapots.
Paul Cardew is also known as the foremost designer of collectible English Teapots in the world. When you remove the teapot top you can see where you pour the hot water.
This rare teapot is an old stove that displays a variety of blue and white miniature pots and tea kettles. The fact that they are blue and whites was the perfect fit in my collection of blue and whites. The little mitten is my favorite part of the teapot.
Have a "Tea-rific" summer!!!

Hi Paula and Patti,
ReplyDeleteI use to sad to say havé quite the collection of tea pots but, down sizing my home a few years ago left me gifting, giving, and selling of my collection to take a turn in the direction of how I now live. Your pot has charmed and brought me to a place where pots were a big part of what was going on in my life back when I was the collector of them as well.
I still drink my tea from now a steamer kettle and out of a lettered cup "D" on it I know boring but life is funny that way sometimes :)
Thank you for the memories in all things pretty, keep enjoying your tea time, my next cup of tea I will be thinking of you girls with a big smile.
Bisous
