What's It Wednesday #87
Hello Dolly, well hello Dolly, It's so nice to have you back where you belong...
I can hear Louis Armstrong or Carol Channing singing this classic tune. It's the perfect tune to sing when your playing with your daughter's collection of vintage dollies.
Ok, truth be told, my daughter does not actually know she has a collection of vintage dolls but she will one day. I promise. I decided to start her collection with this Victorian Era doll dresser. Apparently antique doll furniture is highly sought after. This I did not know.
The wooden dresser has a tall swivel mirror. Below the dresser top are three wide drawers. The top of the dresser is a perfect place to display vintage dolls and antique lace. I store my grandmother's and great-grandmother's handkerchiefs in the top drawers.
I placed this hand painted vintage 3-inch porcelain baby doll in the bottom drawer so everyone could see her pretty laced dress. All of her delicate joints are movable.
This primitive rag doll came from an antique dealer that has unfortunately fallen on hard times and was able to let her go for a steal. I promised that I, I mean my daughter would always take very good care of her.
This little guy is only about 4 inches tall. He is a bisque doll with jointed movable parts. Although he is very fragile, he is one of my favorites.
You can't have a doll dresser with out having vintage doll clothes to put inside. One day I will pass these wonderful treasures to my daughter. But right now she is only three years old which gives me more time to play with them.
What was or is your favorite piece of doll furniture when you were growing up?
xoxoxo

Hi Paula, thank you for hosting, and I can't believe that I am the first one today. Never happens!! I love that little boy doll. I would imagine those are quite rare. I wish I had not waited until my daughter was old enough to say "no" to collecting. Had I started with her like you are doing, she would have had so many pretty things now. She never liked antiques back then but now she wants everything I have!!..Happy Tuesday..Judy
Thank you for hosting! Your dolls are wonderful displayed on the little dresser. I didn't have any doll furniture growing up, except the kind in those 1950's era metal doll houses. I was completely charmed with those tiny miniatures and played by the hour.
What sweet little baby dolls. I know your daughter will love them knowing you've been collecting them for her.
Thanks for hosting.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Your daughter may not appreciate them now, but when she is all grown up she will and thank you for keeping them for her. I know I wish I would have kept many of my moms things that now I regret I did not. This is why now, I am working so hard on completing my girls scrapbook albums, in hopes they will appreciate them when they are older.

Paula, what an amazing collection to be able to hand down to your daughter. I know that she will cherish them forever. Thanks so much for hosting...the features are great!
Do you know what a valuable collection you have? Priceless, but not so Price-less. Wow! Love them! And the dresser is one of my favorites. It's perfect with the dolls. Love this sweet post.
Precious little dolls. This is a darling idea for our daughter. Love the way you have displayed them.
Paula, What precious treasures you are leaving for your little one. Those dolls are absolutely heart-warming.
XOXO,
Meredith
How lovely that you are starting a collection for your daughter (and that you get to enjoy it first). I think the rag doll is so sweet, I love her hair. I always wanted my own rag doll, but it was not meant to be!
Oh, I just love your dolls. Your daughter is going to love and treasure them when she is old enough. Love the dresser for the dolls. I did not have any furniture other than a built in drawer in the dining room for all my dolls and doll clothes. That was such a long time ago.
Thanks for sharing.
Mary
Lovely collection and siplay for your daughter. I had a black doll when I was a child - I loved her so much. I think I still have her tucked away in my old dolls cot in a cupboard - I only had sons and grandsons you see.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for hosting.
Love the dresser very much! Thanks Paula for the feature...I am delighted!
Paula, your baby dolls are precious! I especially love the baby boy doll, too... baby dolls seem harder to find, but are just as sweet. I'm sharing Baby Dainty today, too. It must be Doll Week at Ivy and Elephants! Thanks for hosting!
Thanks so much for hosting !!
Hugs.

Charming post!
As always...... thank you for hosting each week.
Blessings,

Such sweet little dolls! :D I love doll furniture, too, and my favorite was my doll's high chair. I think the poor doll starved because I used it as a beauty shop chair and I teased that poor doll's hair to death!
I hope y'all have a wonderful Wednesday!
xo,
RJ

years ago in the 1980's I made a rag doll similar to yours out of a black material and made her hair out of thread ,anyway I fell in love with the old vintage black dolls and boy was they expensive, very hard to find also,
my niece has it now I gave it to her when she was about 7 ,she loved it

Hello Paula
That is such a catchy tune! I love your doll collection, my favourite pice of furniture was a wooden bed my Father had made and my Mother had sewn the bedding for including a little patchwork quilt. Have a great day!

Hi Paula,
This will be my first time to join your little party. :) You have lots of wonderful bloggers attending. I've been away from blogland for a while but I'm back now.
I'd love to have you pop in for a visit when you have a moment.
Have a lovely day,
Steph ♥
I had a printed metal kitchen set -- fridge and stove, probably from the 60s. Mom had found them at a thrift store and never thought about keeping them once they were outgrown. One of these days, I'm going to find replacements that are within my budget!
I always love your inspiring parties, the dolls are beautiful! Thanks for hosting.
Hugs,
Jody
Your dolls are so cute! Lucky daughter! I collect dolls too and I love them... Christine
Luv your adorable doll
collection! Um, I mean your daughter's! ;0) I am crazy in love with vintage dolly dresses. I look for them all the time.
Hello dear Paula!
Great features and I love your daughter's doll collection! I love black dolls as they bring me memories I will never forget! "When I was a little girl in the 50's I saw a 'black doll' in a toy window in Astoria-NY and I wanted her, but mother said she didn't have enough money and that she needed to buy me school shoes, NOT toys! That night I cried so much for the doll I didn't get, but been that I was my dad's Apple of his eyes; dad said he would buy her for me and HE DID so I stopped crying! Now, when my older daughter was born I got her a black doll she loved. NOTE: Mom didn't have enough money, for real...poor mother, I was not happy with her back than, lol.. Thank you for hosting this lovely party.
Big hugs,
FABBY

Hello lovely sisters!! Can you believe that we have FINALLY come over and posted ~ lol!! Thanks so much for inviting us every week :)
LOVE the dolls that you have. I have a little 4" doll with pin joints that reminds me of your little guy. I found it when I was probably in grade school/jr high digging around my old play house ~ what a find!! She sits in my cabinet with other treasures! She even had a little felt outfit on...but a broken leg ~ how could I get rid of her ~ what an ordeal she'd been through ~ lol!!
Thanks for hosting the party ~ so glad to join you both this week!

You have some sweet dolls. Love that little one's dress! My mother has a collection including a doll of her mothers and one of hers that would date back to the early 1900's and late 20's. Of course they were displayed and not played with. She made some dolls and their clothes in the 80's while going to a ceramics class. Anyway there will be a few for us to pick from some day. I primarily had Barbies and some other 60's dolls. I made sure my daughter had some American Girls dolls and lots of furniture which we've kept and hopefully she can share them with he daughter if she has one!
How sweet they all are and the dresser too, lucky little girl
Barbie was my favorite and that is because Barbie was the only doll I had.I guess that's why I went a little nutty with my daughters American girl doll collection. They have a room of there own.I LOVE your beautiful antique dolls.Especially the primitive doll.I can tell it was loved much and still is :-)
xx

Beautiful and sweet dolls, dear Paula...how lucky is your darling daughter to be able to have such treasures...
In the meantime, you enjoy the fun! ;)
I remember my Barbies, but I think my baby-sized dolly (which I still have) was my favorite....
Hugs and blessings,
- Irina
Paula, your dolls are so beautiful and what a special and precious collection to start for your daughter. I love how you have displayed them with the antique dresser. Just as lovely as all your things here at Ivy and Elephants. Hugs, Beverly
