What's It Wednesday #121
This
week I made a find that left me in a bit of a dilemma. I'd been
wanting a small bench for my vanity. I could just see it all covered
in white ruffles! (sigh)
Just
one problem, this is what I found. A sweet little bench with an
embroidered top that had seen better days.
A
lid that lifts for storage,
And
legs that were less than sexy. I
could always paint it and recover the seat, but that was not
the vision. Oh, and did I mention I can't sew a bit!
Never
one to let a little thing like that crush my dreams, I found this
sweet little communion dress at my local Goodwill...
See
all those gorgeous ruffles? You see where I'm going with this?
I
cut off the bodice and velcroed the waistband together. It makes the
perfect no sew cover up!
So
if you are in need of some soft, romantic ruffles, layered with
crinoline for extra poof, look no further than your GW or thrift
store.
That
one time fancy dress can be used to cover a round inexpensive side
table, add a pretty ruffle drop to a daybed, a curtain topper, or...
a
bench cozy. The perfect cover up!
Hugs,
Patti

ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting again this week.
Funny. I found a bench at the Salvation Arm today. All you have to do is spray paint (easier with the legs), cut some fabric and staple with a heavy staple gun. I don't sew!
ReplyDeleteI tried to link but my photo didn't show. Can you delete? I couldn't get it to delete.

ReplyDeleteYour bench looks adorable now! I used the ruffles from a cocktail dress to cover the legs on a little chair for my granddaughter. No sewing was required, just a staple gun and I glued some trim on to cover the staples. Total cost for me was $6.00.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, how clever you are Paula! I love the dress idea and now the vanity looks right out of Downton Abbey. Tks for popping in to visit while I was on vacation.

Those ruffles are amazing!
ReplyDeletePATTI! Brilliant. In French we say, UN COUP DE GÉNIE! (A stroke of genius) I too have had my heart set on a ruffled bed skirt but more so lately, and more manageable, is a little ruffled skirt for a white iron bench in my covered patio. You have the perfect idea here....just use a ruffled skirt and I already have one!
ReplyDeleteThank you dearest Patti for coming to visit my post. God bless you and give you and your family a lovely summer! School is almost out, and if I recall, you too are in education? ENJOY! Anita
