What's It Wednesday #120
Blue and white porcelain in the kitchen is timeless and classic.
Melamine plates from Pier One are perfect when you have little ones who tear through the house. One of these falls off the wall...no worries.
You just can't go wrong, no matter what you pair them up with. I decided to add an African piece from Ghana next to this Italian vase.
Each decor scape highlights a juxtaposition of diverse cultures. Asian, Italian and Irish porcelain next to wooden and metal African sculptures and artifacts.
The Waterford bread plate over the stove is my absolutely favorite piece. I really feel that diversity in decorating a kitchen, or any other room for that matter, really keeps you from getting the kitchen blues.
What cultural elements do you have in your home designs?

ReplyDeleteThe blue and white is a timeless classic. I don't think my house has any sort of style - just a collection of bits and pieces, memories and treasures from our travels.

Blue and white pottery is so eye catching. When we were in the Netherlands they have that blue and white Delft pottery that was stunning. Thanks for hosting.

Love your kitchen and the accents! Isn't it amazing how nice the melamine dishes have become! I was at Pottery Barn and had to touch them to believe they were actually plastic! I love elephants and have a few pieces here and there but I can't say that I offer much in the way of cultural accents in my home.
