What's It Wednesday #128
Those
of you who follow know I have a few things
I collect. I realize that there should be a 12 step program for
people like me, but until then, I digress. I've gone and started yet
another collection!
You
know I'm a magpie and love sparkly glittery things so I'm taking that
love right into the dining room. I'm now gathering crystal knife
rests and silver napkin rings.
Now
lots of people collect these I'm sure, but you know I’m not quite
normal. I only collect singles. You have no idea the looks I get from
dealers proud to tell me they have a set of six or eight.
I
enjoy the variety and uniqueness of each design, and the hunt of
ferreting out that one I don't already have. It is fun with the knife
rests, (after you explain what a knife rest is! Lol)
but
finding napkin rings can be a real hunt.
I
only want the frilly, girly, froufrou ones. Aren't
they romantic?
So
you see all that glitters is not gold. It might be silver or crystal.
Wish
me luck on my collecting I plan to fill this brides basket with as
many as it can hold as a unique centerpiece for the holiday table.
Perfect with candlelight.
Hugs,
Patti

Oh my darlin' Patti! I also collect the old, beautiful napkin rings! I have both sterling and silverplate, and LOVE the frilly (and monogrammed!) ones, and I use them for family dinners, esp. Christmas. A girl after my own heart! I also collect old silverplate and sterling baby cups - unashamedly! The knife rests are pretty but so far I've managed to withhold from those. Thanks for the party and hosting - we're just back from Grand Cayman, so I'm sharing my love of the island with readers. Have a great rest of the week!

Magical Words! - Sparkle and Shine!!! Immediately puts a smile on my face and bring the feminine out ahahahah
ReplyDeleteI love napkin rings too... I have quite a few as it was tradition - been long since we had babies so I'm not sure it still holds - in my country to offer a silver fork, knife, spoon and napkin ring when a child is born or if not then the first occasion - christening, birthday etc. And family and friends were very generous with our kids. When dear son turned 21 I held a Birthday Lunch and put most of his baby napkin rings to use. It was sweet and everyone thought a lovely day. Like yours is. Always are. Good Luck (one is always afraid to wish you that when on a hunt because one never knows what you'll start new and next ahahahah) and Enjoy. Lots,
Teresa
