Every Time a Bell Rings...

What's It Wednesday #142
You remember the Jimmy Stewart movie "It's A Wonderful Life"? It's a holiday favorite. Around here it's just not Christmas without it. That thought has been poking at my brain for a while now, so I finally did something about it.

Stewart's character was followed around by an angel, well almost. He'd have to save Stewart to earn his wings.

Zuzu's line is my favorite, "Teacher says, 'Every time a bell rings an angel gets its wings". I wanted to bring that special memory to my holiday decorating.

So here's my pair of wings with tinkly bells that ring each time the door opens or closes. It makes me smile each time. Imagine all the angels I'm gifting wings to for Christmas!

I even made an ornament to match for the tree. See the pair of wings? I love it! Hmm, I might just have to make a few more of these. Have you started ringing in the season, too?
Hugs,
Patti

Oh Patti, WHAT A GREAT IDEA! Now those wings, my goodness did you make those? Those are stunningly made with an embossed type of fabric? I have a pair of feathered wings, but the fine feathers would come off every time I'd open the door....this is such a brilliant idea. And yes my dear colleague in education - these sweet souls we teach need their imaginations more than ever these days to problem solve for their world will be even more different than our adult world and problems. Peace and love to you! Anita

During Summer in one of those mental episodes when everything has-to-go-to-its-place-and-never-again-they-will-be-found-out-of-place I broke an angel... I know, thought the same and I was so sad. It fell (so sometimes things are out of the place but on their place, Teresa ;)) and broke. Curiously the wings were intact. They didn't broke or even chirped. And when I was picking the pieces I found them and decided to keep because I remembered a vignette you did once inside some cloches (?) with angel's wings and in that moment I thought - when I grow up I'll be a Ivy and Elephants Girl and this will be useful ahahah. I kid you not.
Thank you for always inspiring to beauty and whimsy,
Teresa
