Not sure about the ivy part, but I'm wondering if you might be Deltas. My good friend is a Delta and she collects elephants.

Hi! I am a follower and I don't know why you chose Ivy and Elephants, but could it be because of a sorority? Your blog is beyond gorgeous!! And what a magnificent giveaway--WOW!!!

Hi Ladies!
Congratulations on 2 months. The elephant represents the strong hearts of the Delta Sigma Theta sisters and the ivy stands for the strong, long lasting friendships of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sisters. Is it ok that I did a little research? Love your blog name and what it represents!

I truly have no idea about the name unless it has something to do with the super cute planter at the beginning of the post. :)

Love your blog! I know that there was a lot of symbolism in Victorian times--perhaps Ivy and Elephants is taken from there? Even if its not, I love the name (HUGE elephant fan!)

It may be for Delta Sigma Theta and Alpha Kappa Alpha. However I believe that you are strong, family oriented women with a keen sense of family like the beloved Elephant. Ivy speaks of endurance, determination and beauty.
Thanks for the giveaway. Hugs, Ginger

Maybe the name comes from the fact that Ivy is a hardy and beautiful plant that grows in a lot of places. And Elephants because it's a symbol of prosperity and good luck.

Congrats on 2 months! Having read the comments I feel as thought I'd be cheating to say symbols of your sororities. How about I just guess that they are things you love :-) The ivy in the elephant at the beginning of your post is just precious and so is the pretty bottle. Thank you for your generosity!

romance-of-roses said...

For some reason I seem to believe that the name of Ivy and Elephants has something to do with both of your mothers. Perhaps one is named Ivy and the other one likes or liked elephants and collected them. If you are sisters, still think mother's name is Ivy and she collected elephants.

Only 2 months blogging? You are so fantastic already! I predict great success!

Okay, here is my guess -- one of you lives in an ivy covered cottage and the other collects elephants (I noticed quite a few when I read past posts). Or, you met at a circus and you both have ivy tattoos. Whatever the reason, the name of your blog is intriguing!

My guess is that you name stems from more than the elephant plant holder with the ivy plant in it. My guess is that as two creative mothers you love helping things grow and making memories. An elephant never forgets, right? lol
