Bubblicious

What's It Wednesday #81
My sister always had this thing for gumball machines, but I never got it. Until...

I saw one filled with seashells and pearls! Then I got it. There was only one problem, I couldn't find one that I liked. I knew I wanted it to be small enough to sit on my dresser, and of course it had to be white.

I found this one in my favorite thrift store. Yea!

Of course I had to bling it up with pearls of every size and shade of white.

I added rhinestones for sparkle, even on the top and around the penny slot. I love the romantic look it has now.

Since we're talking about “gum”, I have a sweet treat to share with you, my gum savers. I didn't know such a thing existed until I found it on a back shelf in an antique store. Delightful!

I love this one I found on the internet. I'm not sure if it really is one, but that's how it was listed. I just know he's adorable!

This one is a little nod to Paula. An elephant of course! Just perfect for our blog.

Hope you enjoyed our “Bubblicious” post!
Hugs,
Patti

What a great idea to paint a bubble gum machine! I have one that is the typical red. It reminds me so much of my childhood charm collection where a penny would get you a piece of gum and sometimes a charm or two!

Hi Patty, Love the gumball machine. I have 2 in my room with buttons in them. One is pink and holds my colored buttons and the white one, which is smaller olds my white buttons.
I have tried several times to link a picture but it keeps telling the size is too big. I do not know how to resize my picture. I tried following the steps the link tells me but still does not do it. Help. Most of the time I don't link a picture because of this problem. COuld you help me? I would love to link to your blog weekly.
Thanks, Ana

I wish I had known about gum savers in my earlier days. I just sold my gumball machine but it was the kind on a pedestal that stands on the floor. It was taking up too much room, but at Christmas it was fun to fill with red berry garland. I love yours with the pearls. A great look.
Thanks for the party!

Don't stop collecting and sharing Beauty and Whimsy!

I love the Elephant.

It must look striking (and funny) "carrying" the mint savers - here they aren't called gum (good family ladies don't chew gum ;) ahahahah) - but were used to put those tiny mints and drops like the French "Les Anis de Flavigny".

I remember being little (I've never been little but I think you get the point :)) and wanting to grow up so I could be in a Lady's Tea and have one of those and do that gesture of reaching across the table and take one - it was a study in elegance.

I remember ones that were of anise and inside had a lavender flower inside. And I remember thinking that I should never bite them but wait patientky it dissolved; and when it did, if you were a guest, it was time to thank for the tea and leave.

Those were the times.

What do I tell you? You had to be born on the wrong century so you could bring us these costumes and objects.

Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Teresa

Hi Patti,
Seeing your bubble gum machine makes me want to hunt our thrift shops for one. I love how you blingged it out and to find it in white what a rare find.
As for the gum savers I have seen these very ones but, never knew what the were for. The hand print clearly says what it's use is but all the unwritten ones have always been a mystery to me :)

I will now keep my eyes open for those unique gum savers, not sure i will purchase any but you my friend have made me all the smarter when I do find one.

Thank you beautiful friend for taking the time to visit and leaving a comment that joys our heart.
Have a beautiful weekend and week to follow.

Lots of love to the two of you.
