When you're a collector the hardest part is finding a way to display your collections so you can enjoy them. My solution is a memory jar.

I love vintage baby items! Little soft shoes and crocheted hats.

This lovely water color portrait had to be some mother's pride and joy. So, too this little Bible and rosary.

Baby items in silver, cups, spoons 

this sweet rattle with built in whistle.

This is the oldest piece I think. A glass baby bottle with a rubber nipple. I just love it!

This cute teething ring is so sweet. It has the date, time, birth weight, and name engraved in the little silver hanging rattle.

I love that displaying all the items in this apothecary jar allows them to be out and enjoyed each day.

As much as I enjoy finding vintage baby items.

I'm enjoying my latest baby collection the most. They're precious now and grow more so each day. As my little grandson turned two, I realized that his tiny onesies, combs, binkies were the treasures that carry the most valuable memories. The jar I’ll take down and... smile.

What's It Wednesday #74

Have you ever found you have an unintentional collection? No? Just us hoarders, huh? Well in my attempt to dig through and organize a bit, I was rummaging through some drawers and boxes when I ran across these.

No, they were not all together wrapped lovingly in tissue or linen, but packed in here and there among lace, hats, shoes and a myriad other things.

After finding the first two I started to look for more.

These with beads and sequins say made in Hong Kong.

I found this one covered completely in beads,

and this one with a intricate flower pattern made with three different types of beads, both handmade in France.

This pretty has a raised flower pattern and hails from Germany.

The shades of ivory and cream must be what drew me to them.

Just imagine the time it must have taken to make each one!

I'm so glad I found these and put them all together. They do make a lovely collection, don't you think? Now I'm inspired to keep digging. Who knows what else I might find!?!

An Easy Pill to Swallow

This is my latest acquisition, a cute little pill box covered in Swarovski crystals. I must confess it is not my first. Let me tell you how it all started…

This is the collection of my friend Debbie. She started me on this road of antiquing and collecting. We’ve spent many a wonderful Saturday at flea markets and antique shows.

 She uses all of her pill boxes and chooses a different one to carry in her purse each day. I noticed that she had different ones, but when I saw them en masse, I was hooked.

  

And it began.

 

The little pearl one started innocent enough. I just couldn’t resist this one with all the sparkle and the little pearls. The first one needed a friend. But when I spied this one with the micro mosaic top… I was a goner!

 So as my passion grew, so did my collection.

 

 I try to find unusual ones made from different mediums, tortoise shell, petit point, porcelains, and cloisonné. 

 The beauty of collecting pill boxes is the variety, range of price, and their small size. They allow you to follow your heart and buy what you love! They are so plentiful and inexpensive. So pick a material, a color, or design. You’ll find that these boxes are an easy pill to swallow.
