What's It Wednesday #97
First I was in a pickle...then I was in a jam. Let me start from the beginning. Being a Victoriana (Collector of things from the Victorian period 1837-1901), I have a long list of things I am always on the hunt for. Finding the perfect pickle castor was top priority.
I love the silver frames (silver is a weakness of mine). The frames are usually quite ornate with lacy filigree, scrolls, shells, flowers, tassels, birds, etc. On the side of the frame is a little hook for the tongs to rest. The glass jar insert is equally as ornate and add a lovely elegance to any tablescape.
Once I placed the pickle castor on the table I realized I was in a jam. I did not actually want to put pickles in my pickle castor. We were having croissants, fresh fruit and sparkling apple cider for breakfast. Then it hit me. Jam!!!! So I placed orange marmalade in the beautiful glass. It completed the fall colors of the table.
Once breakfast was over I put fall candy in the pickle castor for the kids. In an instant I was no longer in a pickle but enjoyed being in a jam. This Victorian pickle castor, from the mid 1800s with orange marmalade or fall candy, is now my favorite fall accent.
What is your favorite fall accent this year?

What a beautiful piece, Paula! Your fall table looks great! Thanks so much for hosting!
That is an unusual piece, and I am now wanting a croissant with some marmalade! Love your features, and thanks for hosting. Happy to be able to join you. xo
You and I love the same things. I've been obsessed with these castors for some time, but don't have one of my own. I keep seeing them in antique shops around here and was trying to imagine what I would use it for - because I love actually using my pretty things. Now you've solved the problem and I need to grab the next one I see for my jams!
Excellent and beautiful!
oh beautiful! I make jam and marmalade and I just love this Victorian container. Gorgeous.
We really don't seem to do "fall" decorating here like you do in America - maybe because Australian trees don't turn autumn colours and drop like yours do.
Have a wonderful week. and thank you for the invite.
The Victorian era never ceases to amaze me. There was something beautiful for every thing. That is a gorgeous piece. It looks beautiful on your table. Thanks for hosting.
Good solution for a sticky situation. lol! Love it filled with jam! Thanks for hosting.

Beautiful pickle castor Paula. I think I have one but it doesn't have a place for a spoon on the side. My mother always called it a cookie jar but it looks very similar to your beautiful piece! Thanks for another wonderful party. Blessings to both of you lovely ladies, Patti

Thank you so much for stopping by my Buttons blog and commenting about the little owls I made for Debby's swap. Yours is wonderful. I have never seen a pickle container like that one. It is beautiful. All of your captures are so nice. Hope you are having a nice week, and I will visit again soon. genie
